- ➤ Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, a longtime mentor in our community, will have his remains back on U.S. soil as of Saturday with his funeral in Sacramento. Organizers have raised over $19,000 via GoFundMe to cover travel costs for 27 service members who plan to attend. KCCI
- ➤ Last Thursday, Iowa National Guard soldiers returned home from the Middle East with welcome ceremonies in Sioux City, Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids. Sergeant Ben Morehead (of the Second Brigade Combat Team of the 34th Infantry Division) said community care packages boosted morale after his challenging deployment in Syria. Radio Iowa

- ➤ Dave’s Hot Chicken is planning its third Iowa spot in West Des Moines at 6630 Mills Civic Parkway in the former Noodles and Co. space across from Chick-fil-A.
