ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Today at 7 a.m., the Iowa Department of Transportation reported that a crash blocked the southbound left lane of Highway 5 in West Des Moines—traffic briefly improved while officials monitored the scene as severe weather is forecast to return later. KCCI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Des Moines Area Community College lost its defamation claim against Drake University when federal Judge Stephanie Rose dismissed DMACC’s allegations that an email from Drake caused marketplace confusion over similar logos—she also declined to sanction DMACC as the trademark dispute continues. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, landowners and lawmakers met at the statehouse to support bill HF 943 that would stop government from taking land for carbon pipelines without the owner's consent. The bill passed the House committee and would take effect immediately if signed—lawmakers plan to debate it in the Senate. KCCI
- ➤ The Iowa Senate passed a bill today that will penalize motorists for handling smart phones while driving—aimed at reducing distracted driving—and the vote of 47-1 sends it to the House for further review after Governor Reynolds urged action. Radio Iowa

- ➤ The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa State University announced that the Boy’s State Basketball Tournament will move from Des Moines to Ames in 2027.
