- ➤ Iowans who parked outside on March 20th during heavy thunderstorms found their cars covered in brown smudges and polka dots. Meteorologist Alexis Jimenez said the winds (over 70 miles per hour) carried dust from Texas and New Mexico (nearly a thousand miles away) and that local car washes may soon see more customers. - ➤ Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate confirmed through a federal database that 277 non-citizens were registered to vote in 2024—35 cast counted ballots, 5 ballots were rejected, and 237 did not vote—and he forwarded these names to the Attorney General for potential prosecution. Radio Iowa
- ➤ The Iowa House passed a bill to use a federal waiver that will let schools bypass nutrition guidelines to serve more animal-based proteins, vegetables and fruits—supporters say the change boosts Iowa agriculture while critics warn it could cost up to $160 million in federal funding. - ➤ A bill in the Iowa legislature will let doctors prescribe COMP360 (a synthetic psilocybin drug) if the FDA approves it and changes the rule that requires a new law before any drug is dispensed.
