Starting April 1, Living History Farms in Urbandale is hosting a traveling exhibit about Iowa’s only native president—standing in for the closed Hoover museum.
Historian Sarah Fling will speak on April 23 at 6:30 p.m. about the Hoovers in the White House; the exhibit runs through May 31.

Iowa Lottery sales are running ahead of projections with a 9% increase through February.
CEO Matt Strawn credits jackpots and new games like Millionaire for Life* for the boost and expects momentum to continue through the fiscal year ending June 30.
🌲 Environment
Iowa National Guard members and DNR firefighters are in Nebraska to slow fast-spreading wildfires that have burned over 800,000 acres so far.
They use Black Hawk helicopters — dropping water on remote flames and wildland fire engines on rugged terrain as strong winds and drought keep the fires moving.
🏛️ Government
Iowa lawmakers are considering a bill to exempt sales tax on data centers and nuclear power plant construction or expansion while requiring a 5% donation of the savings to fund a new nuclear engineering program at a state university.
The measure has cleared a senate subcommittee to attract further investment.
