BUSINESS NEWS

  • The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and Explore WDM Committee hosted Out to Lunch at Spare Time Entertainment on March 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—local business and community leaders networked while paying for their own lunch.  Greater Des Moines Partnership
  • Bar Louie filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and plans to close at least 14 underperforming restaurants nationwide—however, the West Des Moines location at Jordan Creek Town Center was not included in the closure filings and will remain open as one of 31 corporate-owned locations.  Des Moines Register
  • Keystone Savings Bank will host the Breakfast Club: Tour Your Chamber event on April 16 at 7:30 a.m. where local professionals will join a free breakfast and networking session—attendees will learn about Keystone's financial services and connect with chamber members.  Greater Des Moines Partnership
  • Real Connections Counseling will host B.A.S.H. on May 13 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CDT to bring members from various businesses together for networking and socializing—refreshments and light snacks will be served.   • The chamber will hold its monthly FuseDSM Firestarter meeting on May 13 (8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. CDT) to build local business connections and drive growth in our community. SPORTS NEWS

  • Des Moines is hosting the first-ever MASLW playoffs at Buccaneer Arena as part of Women’s History Month—soccer leaders gathered to mark a historic moment for women’s sports. Mayor Connie Boesen and Demon Hawks owner Darwin Salas said the tournament will spark future opportunities for young female athletes.  WHO13
