- ➤ West Des Moines police are investigating a shooting after a person with a gunshot wound was brought to a hospital just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning, and officers said the victim is expected to recover. KCCI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa GOP lawmakers ended a two-month stalemate on K-12 funding by approving a 2% increase that adds nearly $162 per student for both public and private schools—funding extra costs for districts with high transportation expenses and small districts sharing staff. The measure will be sent to the governor after the House votes tomorrow. Radio Iowa

- ➤ Brooklynn Conrad, a 10-year-old golfer from Des Moines, placed fourth in the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club over the weekend. She trained at Urban Dreams Community Center and was one of 80 junior golfers selected to compete nationwide. KCCI
- ➤ Former Iowa Hawkeye and current Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean will host an all-star charity softball game in Des Moines this summer at Principal Park—he will captain one team while his former teammate Riley Moss leads the other and proceeds benefit University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
