- ➤ On Earth Day, the American Lung Association released its State of the Air report, which gave Iowa metro areas D's and F's for air quality — Des Moines ranked 80th worst for ozone pollution, Cedar Rapids 60th and Davenport 75th — and warned that pollution may impact children’s health. KCCI

- ➤ Iowa lawmakers are considering property tax reform proposals that would cap local government revenue and risk reducing funding for community colleges, which may lead to higher tuition, fewer programs and outdated equipment, according to Kirkwood Community College. - ➤ UnityPoint opened a colorectal surgery clinic at Waukee Medical Park to help patients get quick screening and care close to home. The clinic opens amid rising cancer rates in Iowa + it is now taking referrals for specialized treatment. KCCI
- ➤ Iowa is getting $200 million in federal money for a five-year plan to improve rural health care by expanding cancer care training and building a hub — spoke system, officials said at the Iowa Cancer Consortium spring meeting. Rural groups interested in cancer care are welcome to join. KCCI
