COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A new park called Kathryn Kreig Park is being built in Highland Park at 3825 East 9th Street to add a stormwater basin plus park features such as a basketball court, a walking loop and playground equipment. The park, named after a longtime city employee who led local programs, is expected to serve over 2,900 residents when construction finishes in the fall. WHO13

- ➤ Mitchellville police are searching for missing 14-year-old Ona Fink, who was last seen Wednesday and is 5 feet 3 inches tall with red hair and blue eyes—her family says she may be in danger due to her mental health and her ties to Des Moines and Council Bluffs. KCCI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Drake University turned the historic Morehouse Residence Hall into the Johansen Student Center, a multicultural hub for over 150 student groups. The campus held a grand opening and dedication Thursday afternoon after spending more than 16 million dollars on renovations. KCCI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers near Waukee and West Des Moines face overnight road closures on eastbound I-80 and University Avenue between Jordan Creek Parkway and 50th Street starting April 27 for construction+ detour routes have been set up. The closures continue until early morning April 30+ and the DOT stresses extra caution as work zone fines are doubled. Des Moines Register
