- ➤ High school students across Iowa were honored at the Governor Scholar Program Ceremony where Governor Reynolds gave a handshake, photo, plaque & certificate to students after seven semesters of hard work. The program, run by the Governor’s Office, IHSAA & Iowa Farm Bureau, selected two seniors from the largest 64 schools and one senior from every other school. WHO13
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Federal budget cuts may reduce funds for the Iowa Cancer Registry, which relies on both federal and state money—health experts warn the cut could hurt research, screening, and early detection. Governor Reynolds has proposed spending $1 million to support University of Iowa research to investigate Iowa's high cancer diagnosis rates. Radio Iowa

- ➤ The Iowa Brewery Running Series kicked off its season Sunday, April 27th at Confluence Brewery Company with a fun run that drew local runners regardless of the weather. Ten percent of the event’s proceeds — donated to local nonprofits — supported charities, and the series will hold more fun runs at different breweries this summer and fall. WHO13
