- ➤ Des Moines residents who lost their homes in a Monday afternoon apartment fire received shelter and support from local agencies as DART provided buses and the Pioneer Columbus Community Center opened to house families — the American Red Cross also helped distribute food during the coordinated response. - ➤ Bonchon, a Korean fried chicken chain, opened its first Iowa restaurant in West Des Moines at 6880 EP True Parkway, Suite 104 on April 29. The menu offers dishes like bibimbap and tteokbokki — and franchise partner Min Tun plans three more locations statewide. Des Moines Register

- ➤ Drake University is accepting registrations for three summer camps in music, health care and media. The voice camp runs June 8–12, the health care camp is July 9–11 (registration closes June 1), and the media camp runs July 7–19. KCCI

- ➤ West Des Moines City Council voted Monday night to contribute $40,000 to the Ride the Thin Blue Line memorial project honoring fallen Iowa officers. The memorial will be built along the Raccoon River Valley Trail near the Dallas County Law Enforcement Center in Adel and will feature a wall of names and a tree of life centerpiece. KCCI
