- ➤ Cops climbed Des Moines buildings Friday morning at Dunkin’ Donuts during the 10th annual Cop on a Rooftop event — the fundraiser benefited Special Olympics Iowa. The Law Enforcement Torch Run began at 6:00 a.m. and collected donations to help athletes train all year — early donors received a free coffee coupon. WHO13

- ➤ Rusty—a two-legged Australian red heeler—became a beloved figure in Iowa after owner Bill Davis described a 1993 mowing incident that cost him two legs. He learned to adapt quickly and was once timed running at 17 mph, a feat that continues to inspire local fans. KCCI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Emergency dispatchers asked Governor Reynolds to veto a bill passed overnight that gives the Iowa 911 Program the power to charge local 911 boards for undefined reasonable costs—Todd Malone warned that the measure, with a 30-day deadline for payment, could force some centers to cut staffing or even close. The governor has 30 days to sign or veto the bill. WHO13
- ➤ House Speaker Pat Grassley held a bill signing ceremony—expecting Governor Kim Reynolds to sign the new carbon pipeline bill even though groups for corn growers and ethanol makers are urging a veto.
