Iowa emergency managers and law enforcement officials urged Gov. Kim Reynolds to veto a new fee in the appropriations bill that would require 911 boards to pay for equipment upgrades, warning it could strain local budgets and slow emergency response.

During the 2025 legislative session, Iowa lawmakers developed proposals to overhaul the property tax system but did not adopt them, and House Speaker Grassley said they will act in 2026.
