GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa emergency managers and law enforcement officials urged Gov. Kim Reynolds to veto a new fee in the appropriations bill that would require 911 boards to pay for equipment upgrades, warning it could strain local budgets and slow emergency response. They held a news conference on Monday—expressing concerns that the fee’s vagueness might force staffing cuts and lead to system deterioration. KCCI
- ➤ During the 2025 legislative session, Iowa lawmakers developed proposals to overhaul the property tax system but did not adopt them, and House Speaker Grassley said they will act in 2026.
