  • Today from (4:00 PM to 5:00 PM), the Urbandale Chamber will host Maximize Your Membership 2.0 presented by Raccoon Valley Bank to help members and representatives learn to use their membership benefits. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Iowa emergency managers and law enforcement officials urged Gov. Kim Reynolds to veto a new fee in the appropriations bill that would require 911 boards to pay for equipment upgrades, warning it could strain local budgets and slow emergency response. They held a news conference on Monday—expressing concerns that the fee’s vagueness might force staffing cuts and lead to system deterioration.  KCCI
  • During the 2025 legislative session, Iowa lawmakers developed proposals to overhaul the property tax system but did not adopt them, and House Speaker Grassley said they will act in 2026. Lawmakers will spend the coming eight months meeting with cities, schools, and local officials to perfect the plan and address taxpayer relief alongside local funding needs.  Radio Iowa
