- ➤ Regional Affiliate Chamber Members from across Greater Des Moines will gather for Chamber Night with the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park on June 24—when the Cubs face the Columbus Clippers. The event includes a pre-game tailgate with food and seating, and tickets are available online until 3 p.m. on June 23. Greater Des Moines Partnership
- ➤ The West Des Moines Chamber will host the Sizzlin Summer Social at Racoon River Park — Biddle Shelter on July 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Music, lawn games, chilled drinks, and grilled food will offer a laid-back feel — the first drink is provided from the Chamber cooler and guests are encouraged to BYOB with chairs or blankets. - ➤ Several metro pools postponed their Memorial Day weekend openings due to cool weather. West Des Moines’ Holiday Aquatic Center and Valley View Aquatic Center will open on Saturday, May 31 - while American Legion Park Sprayground remains open as planned. WHO13

- ➤ Paws & Pints will celebrate its facility expansion at Mo'Tail & Spa in Des Moines on July 8th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM CDT with community partners including Norwalk Chamber, Fuse DSM & Urbandale Chamber joining the event. Greater Des Moines Partnership

- ➤ Chill on the Hill featuring The Savage Freds will take place on June 20 at Copper Creek Lake Park from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.—the concert is for patrons 21 and older, features a food truck on site, and is supported by Elder Corporation and Keystone Savings Bank. Greater Des Moines Partnership
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, soldiers and airmen of the Iowa National Guard gathered at Camp Dodge in Johnston to honor the upcoming 250th birthday of the U.S. Army—Adjutant General Stephen Osborn explained that the ceremony, which included cake and speeches, celebrated the Army's long legacy and its continued commitment to modern readiness. - ➤ Governor Kim Reynolds said she will meet with Iowans over the coming months to build a property tax reform plan & consider changes to other taxes; she noted that she has until June 14 to sign or veto new legislative bills before focusing on further tax reforms. Radio Iowa
- ➤ Congresswoman Ashley Hinson said a part of the bill that would have given the government control of pipelines was left out of the House budget bill passed on May 23. She said she is always worried about eminent domain and praised parts of the bill such as tax cuts and natural gas reforms — the Senate will now consider the bill. Radio Iowa
