- ➤ On Saturday, a car show in Des Moines raised funds for the Polk County Public Safety Cadet Program by featuring a wide range of classic cars that let young volunteers see the fruits of their work. - ➤ The Des Moines Police Department said that motorcycle crashes decreased from 131 in 2023 to 106 in 2024 and fatalities dropped from six to five during Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month — urging drivers to check mirrors and obey speed limits as warmer weather brings more riders on the road. - ➤ Alpaca Acres reopened Saturday at Blank Park Zoo, giving local visitors the chance to feed and pet alpacas and enjoy the Giraffe Feeding Experience.
