ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ AAA Iowa says the free 'Do Not Disturb' phone feature may help reduce distracted driving crashes—a study shows many drivers are unaware it still allows music and maps—and Governor Kim Reynolds signed a new 'Hands-Free' law that starts in July with $100 fines beginning January 1st. Radio Iowa
- ➤ Iowa law now allows ATVs and UTVs on highways and the Iowa State Patrol reported rising fatal crashes as it urged riders to wear proper gear, follow traffic rules and a 35-mile-an-hour speed limit while drivers stay alert at intersections. KCCI

- ➤ West Des Moines police are investigating the disappearance of 13-year-old Dhianna Renee Hughes—last seen at 11:30 p.m. May 24 near 11th Street and Office Park Road—and she is believed to be in the Des Moines metro area. Des Moines Register
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The governor signed a new law that limits crypto ATM transfers to $1000 a day and caps fees at 15% — the law requires detailed receipts and written warnings and lets the attorney general fine operators who break the rules. Radio Iowa
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa DOT warns drivers to look twice when turning or changing lanes near motorcycles since they are harder to see and following too closely may lead to crashes—motorcycles make up only 4% of vehicles yet cause nearly 18% of traffic deaths, with many riders not wearing helmets. Registered nurse Kelly Hilsabeck advises motorists to give motorcycles plenty of room in traffic to avoid collisions. Radio Iowa
