- ➤ Fans at Des Moines Con at the Iowa Events Center enjoyed a Q&A session yesterday with Norwalk native actor Brandon Routh, who shared his Iowa favorites and recalled his work as Superman. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Central Iowa Water Works asked residents to lower water use by 25% after nitrate levels in the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers affected water supply conditions, although finished water still meets regulations. Some locals said they adjust sprinkler times and plant native greenery to conserve water — practices CIWW recommends for early morning or late evening watering. WHO13
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A high school service project that began in 2020 grew into the nonprofit Love for Red — which now supplies menstrual products to 97 schools across Iowa and advocates for free access — after Maanya Pandey started collecting sanitary items to help fight period poverty. KCCI

- ➤ Odebolt native and Philadelphia Eagles player Cooper DeJean held a charity softball game at Principal Park on Sunday to help the Stead Family Children's Hospital at his alma mater, University of Iowa, with former Hawkeyes and NFL players playing in the game. Over 9,000 fans attended and his signed cleats were auctioned for $5,700 (money that will help the hospital). KCCI
