ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Late last month, Central Iowa Water Works asked customers to cut back on lawn watering by 25% as its treatment facility neared full capacity — rising temperatures this week have increased water demand and the utility is running its nitrate removal facility since April 28 to meet EPA standards. The agency continues to stress water conservation to help maintain safe drinking levels.  KCCI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The ACLU of Iowa filed a complaint alleging that state officials discriminated against The Satanic Temple Iowa when they denied its request to host an event and display in the Capitol Rotunda last December—Temple minister Mortimer Adramelech said today that the complaint is a required first step before a lawsuit can be filed.  Radio Iowa

  • Iowa Health and Human Services reported a second confirmed measles case in a vaccinated adult male from eastern Iowa in June—health officials are still determining if he traveled outside the state.  WHO13
