Maanya Pandey, a Waukee High School graduate, was inducted into the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame for founding Love for Red that supplies free feminine hygiene products to more than 170 schools statewide.
She now attends the University of Iowa as a pre-med student.
🎭 Culture
The Iowa State Fair is planning a $20 million renovation of its historic Swine Barn, built in 1907 and expanded in 1936.
Some upgrades will be ready for the 11-day fair from Aug. 13 to Aug. 23 while additional improvements continue ahead of next year.
The Des Moines Heritage Trust released its updated list (Jun.
19) of seven endangered historic buildings in Des Moines, including four from the 1800s. The effort aims to boost local preservation discussions and adaptive reuse of these landmarks.
