CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa Department of Corrections is searching for 23-year-old inmate Waloa Chamdual—convicted of first-degree robbery—who failed to return to the Fort Des Moines work release facility on June 19 and is now wanted, with local police asking for any information about his whereabouts. WHO13
- ➤ A West Des Moines man, 27-year-old Andrew Stearns, has been charged with four counts for allegedly possessing and sending child sexual abuse videos stored on his Kik social media account — he will appear in court on July 3. KCCI
- ➤ A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle on Monday night near Merle Hay and Hickman roads—witnesses say the car fled the scene and police are investigating the hit-and-run. KCCI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A group of businesses, labor unions and a major clinic filed a lawsuit in Polk County District Court to stop new Iowa rules on Pharmacy Benefit Managers that stop employers from sharing how to save on prescriptions — the suit says the law breaks federal ERISA rules and the First Amendment — and seeks a temporary block before the rules start on July 1. Supporters say the law will help pay pharmacies fairly, but others warn it may raise health care costs for Iowa companies. Radio Iowa
