- ➤ Vintage in the Valley will take place on Sunday at the Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park in Des Moines from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—the event has expanded from Valley Junction and will feature over 100 vendors, food trucks, and live music, with organizer Christina Crook adding that a similar event is planned for October. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Polk County Supervisor Matt McCoy said that a comprehensive water quality report—commissioned in 2023—will be released on July 1 to guide efforts to reduce nitrate levels tied to agriculture in the Des Moines and Raccoon River watersheds. Federal data shows Iowa has the highest nitrate concentrations, and McCoy stressed working cooperatively with farmers while Polk County builds wetlands to help clean runoff. KCCI
