- ➤ Des Moines police arrested one person on Monday after a hit-and-run chase ended in Pleasant Hill — a patrol officer near Easton Boulevard and Hubbell Avenue spotted a white van before 4:45 p.m., the driver lost control crashing into an embankment, and the suspect was taken into custody when they tried to flee. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ KCCI celebrated its 70th anniversary by reflecting on its coverage of Pope John Paul II’s visit to Iowa on October 4th, 1979—reporters overcame challenges like closed interstates and improvised equipment to air live footage as nearly 350,000 people attended the mass. - ➤ Iowa DOT announced that the eastbound I-80 exit to 60th Street in West Des Moines closed at 9 p.m. Monday, July 7 for concrete repairs and will reopen at 5 a.m. Aug. 21.
