- ➤ Taro, a tiny grey-brown Japanese macaque, was born almost a month ago at the local zoo and stayed close to his mother (Anika, born in 2014) so they could bond before he was introduced to visitors; he will soon be seen near the carousel as part of the zoo’s commitment to species survival. - ➤ Woodhouse Auto Group of Omaha opened a new Porsche dealership in West Des Moines at 7220 Lake Drive along Interstate 80 and Jordan Creek Parkway earlier this month — it is the first Porsche dealer in the area since 2008 and the only one in Iowa. Des Moines Register

- ➤ Alison Ewing, an Iowa native actress from Mason City, will star in the touring Broadway production Parade as Sally Slaton starting next Tuesday at the Civic Center in Des Moines—the only Iowa stop on the tour. - ➤ Iowa public media are bracing for major funding cuts as Congress reviews a bill that would cut $9 billion in taxpayer dollars from foreign aid & public broadcasting.
