- ➤ Iowans for Adoption held its 11th Annual Move for Adoption event in West Des Moines on Sunday afternoon to raise awareness about 500 youth in foster care waiting to be adopted—funds raised will support educational materials on Iowa’s Safe Haven Act and the adoption process from foster care. - ➤ After a 49-year-old man fell off a dock into the Des Moines River at Prospect Park, first responders suspended the search when dangerous currents and debris made a rescue risky—officials said they will resume the search later. WHO13

- ➤ Today, high water levels from repeated heavy thunderstorms closed some boat ramps and beaches at Saylorville Lake while many residents cooled off. The Army Corps of Engineers warns boaters to watch for unseen debris—closures may last for more than a week. KCCI
