Visitors to the Iowa State Fair can enjoy budget-friendly treats such as a $7 brat corn dog from Jada’s Concessions and $6 lemonade from Hoppy’s Lemonade, a $3 ride at Ye Old Mill that includes a free egg on a stick plus a $4 Giant Slide ride; the fair will remain open daily at 8 a.m. until August 17.

USA Today ranked the Iowa State Fair as the second-best fair in the nation, behind Minnesota+ many fairgoers say it is the best and praise its large layout and food offerings; the fair opened on Thursday and runs until the 17th.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced a $152 million investment at the Iowa State Fair yesterday to fund 19 rural projects—covering healthcare, water systems, road improvements, and economic development across Iowa.

The funds include a $37 million loan for Guthrie County Hospital expansion and grants for water tower construction—aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure.
