  • Animal Rescue League spokeswoman Mackenzie Olk said scammers use lost pet notices' phone numbers to falsely claim a pet is safe and demand payment via a third-party processor, costing pet owners thousands+ she advised verifying notices on PetcoLoveLost.org and IowaPetAlert.com before sending money.  Radio Iowa
  • An adult man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the neck near East 14th Street around 3 p.m. on Monday; police apprehended a fleeing suspect — the investigation remains ongoing.  WHO13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rain is making the Central Iowa morning commute wet so drivers are asked to slow down and allow extra travel time as the DOT confirms no accidents; tonight, I-35/80 northbound lanes will be closed from the West Mixmaster to Rider Corner and Tuesday night Fleur Drive will shut down from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.—detours are set to help motorists avoid delays.  KCCI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Governor Kim Reynolds said Iowa will begin enforcing Medicaid work requirements on Jan. 1, 2026—about 100000 people in expanded coverage must prove they work at least 80 hours per month unless they are exempt due to disabilities, serious illnesses or caring for young children; federal guidelines are expected soon.  Radio Iowa
