  • The World Food and Music Festival began yesterday in downtown Des Moines + several roads around Pappajohn Sculpture Park and the public library were closed for the event, with closures set to continue through the weekend. Traffic remains calm with no reported delays from the Iowa Department of Transportation.  KCCI

CRIME NEWS

  • The family of Ryan Cooper filed a motion asking Karina Cooper to return the over $500,000 life insurance payout she received before the investigation ended after being found guilty of his murder last month— the motion will be heard on Sept. 12.  KCCI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The World Food and Music Festival is underway at Western Gateway Park in Des Moines and will run through Sunday. More than 50 vendors from 25 countries are offering food & drink along with live music performances this weekend.  KCCI
  • Today, the World Food & Music Festival is underway at Western Gateway Park as over 60 vendors from more than 30 countries serve diverse food and draw about 100,000 attendees through Sunday. The Iowa Events Center at EMC Expo Center begins hosting World Soccer Fest 2025 with friendly matches among teams from the U.S., Mexico, Brazil and Colombia while Ingersoll LIVE starts on Ingersoll Avenue from 3 to 10 p.m. with about 10,000 people expected.  KCCI
