- ➤ Central Iowa Water Works is reviewing its response to high nitrate levels this summer that led to a lawn watering ban for 600,000 customers—Grimes was served separately—and increased treatment challenges in the Des Moines, Raccoon and Infiltration Gallery sources. Executive Director Tami Madsen said residents followed the ban and the agency will work with conservation districts—this collaboration aims to boost water quality. WHO13

- ➤ Former state legislator Jim Carlin, running for U.S. Senate, said he will sponsor a bill to allow law-abiding gun owners with a state permit to carry their firearms across state lines—claiming rights should not stop at state borders. He is campaigning in multiple counties and will speak Tuesday at a MAGA Nation Iowa meeting in West Des Moines. Radio Iowa
