- ➤ Eric Heismeyer became the new CEO of Landus, Iowa's largest farmer-owned cooperative, on Tuesday, succeeding Matt Carstens who stepped down in April after nearly 10% of its 600 employees were laid off. He brings leadership experience from Bunge and Archer Daniels Midland — his expertise is expected to drive progress into the cooperative's 2026 fiscal year. KCCI

- ➤ The Freedom of Expression Project is set to open its exhibit THE WORLD WE BUILD to show local artists, with displays at Curate Studio from Sept 16—19 and at the Des Moines Art Center from Sept 22—29. WHO13

- ➤ Iowa is offering a $1.4 billion Powerball jackpot in tonight's drawing, the highest in over a year, and lottery officials note that tickets must be bought by 8:59 p.m. ahead of the 9:59 p.m. drawing to participate responsibly. Radio Iowa
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A report from the Legislative Services Agency showed state income tax collections in August fell nearly $42.5 million from last August as tax payments dropped 18.6% following several tax cuts in past years (corporate and sales tax receipts did not offset the loss). A state panel estimated total tax revenue will fall by over half a billion dollars during the current fiscal year. Radio Iowa
- ➤ Polk County Supervisor Angela Connolly announced her retirement Wednesday evening and said she will not run for re-election after 25 years serving the fifth district in Des Moines. She helped build projects such as the Iowa Events Center and Lauridsen Skate Park—guiding the county through natural disasters as her term ends in 2026. KCCI
- ➤ Today, DART is asking for public input on its proposed 2026 bus route redesign that will offer fewer routes and service every 15 minutes even on weekends. The agency will collect feedback through September and host meetings at Central Station downtown—officials will review comments in October and finalize the plan by year’s end. KCCI
