- ➤ The Final Salute is urging the public to attend the Unclaimed Veterans Service on October 4 at Lutheran Church of Hope in Waukee — the ceremony will honor 12 veterans and one spouse by reuniting unclaimed urns with family or providing a final resting place if needed. WHO13
- ➤ Eleven dogs rescued from unsafe conditions in Pocahontas County are recovering under the care of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa—three have already found forever homes. The ARL said the most matted dog, Noel, is now more comfortable after grooming but still needs medical care before she can be adopted. KCCI

- ➤ Supporters gathered outside the Iowa Statehouse Sunday afternoon to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, and a nonpartisan vigil will be held today at 7 p.m. — a move to condemn political violence. KCCI
