- ➤ At the 5th Annual Hot Rods for Heroes Car Show in Des Moines, hundreds gathered as Blue Star Mothers of Iowa raised funds for troop care packages. Lisa Wilson said the group needs to raise over $110,000—mainly for shipping—to send 2,700 packages overseas in November. WHO13

- ➤ New Horizon Cuisine, a sauce and flavor maker, is building a new 30,000 square foot facility in Ankeny — supported by tax credits from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The $14.5 million project will create 11 jobs — expanding the company’s operations in meat and vegetable extracts. KCCI
