ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A UnityPoint Health LifeFlight helicopter hit a bird just after takeoff Monday morning while transporting a patient—no one was hurt as the pilot followed protocol and returned safely to Iowa Methodist Medical Center where a mechanic inspected the aircraft and the patient was taken to the hospital by ambulance. - ➤ Former Des Moines superintendent Ian Roberts was arrested by ICE last week and may have been denied a green card four times because he fell out of legal status—an immigration attorney explained that issues like working without proper authorization could be factors while Des Moines Public Schools now sues the firm that recommended him. - ➤ The West Des Moines City Council approved a lease on Oct. 6 for the Buccaneers to play at the MidAmerican RecPlex for the 2025-26 season — the team will use the Abel Ice Arena with a fee of $2,400 per game while the facility keeps its advertising and food sales revenue.
