- ➤ Firefighters responded to a small fire at Toyota of Des Moines in Grimes on Friday morning—gas ignited on the shop floor—and sprinklers quickly controlled the blaze while no injuries were reported. KCCI
- ➤ On Thursday, 44-year-old Ankeny cyclist Courtney Peterson was hit and killed by a dump truck while crossing NW 44th Street on the High Trestle Trail in Polk County—witnesses said drivers had only about five seconds to react due to the hill crest’s limited visibility. KCCI
