On Friday, a statewide effort to stop distracted driving will launch with the Iowa State Patrol — working with other agencies — focusing on drivers who use cell phones and electronic devices.
State Trooper Paul Gardner said drivers stopped during the grace period will only receive warnings until the law fully takes effect on January 1.
