- ➤ Wellmark Blue Cross-Blue Shield filed a lawsuit against Iowa Insurance Commissioner Doug Ommen to stop a new state law on pharmacy benefit managers, saying it breaks federal rules and the US Constitution. The insurer said the legal action is needed to stop small, separate complaints after the commissioner sent guidance on Sept. 24 that could raise its plan costs by nearly $100 million a year—likely leading to higher premiums for its 800,000 customers. - ➤ Des Moines School Board president Jackie Norris ended her Senate campaign on Oct 16 after a crisis over an immigration arrest for former superintendent Ian Roberts demanded her full attention—she said coordinated attacks targeted her and the board—and she will focus on a $265 million borrowing plan for public schools in November.
