- ➤ Chip Murrow from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources said that warm fall weather kept leaves green in parts of Iowa while cold snaps spurred early color change elsewhere. He noted heavy snow is expected this weekend (which may end the season) and southern spots might still show vibrant colors. Radio Iowa

- ➤ The Iowa Department of Transportation reversed its move to reduce Highway 5 to one lane after negative feedback from drivers and law enforcement—restoring a two-lane merge onto I-35 as officials linked traffic backups and two crashes to the change. The department said it would investigate why the zipper merge did not work and explore safer alternatives. WHO13
