Barrio Burrito Bar opened yesterday at 7120 University Ave., Suite 103 in West Des Moines and offers customizable burritos, bowls, tacos and signature dishes like bang-bang shrimp & extreme fries.

Owners Sonal, Vishal & Amit Patel plan to expand the chain across Iowa, Nebraska & Indiana.

West Des Moines officials report that construction along Grand Avenue has led to a 56% drop in crashes and a 60% reduction in injury crashes.

The project started earlier this year and will finish in summer, expanding the three-lane roadway to six lanes.
