- ➤ Reports of about 100 potential bird flu cases have spiked since late November in West Des Moines and nearby communities. Wildlife rehabilitators urge residents to keep their distance and report clusters of dead waterfowl (especially at public spots) to the Iowa DNR. KCCI
- ➤ Starting Jan. 1, the Polk County Health Department will stop billing private insurance — including Medicare — and require immediate payment for services while still accepting Medicaid excluding STI visits and providing routine and seasonal vaccines; patients with private insurance are advised to use their primary doctor.
