West Des Moines police are investigating a shooting after a person with a gunshot wound was brought to a hospital just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning, and officers said the victim is expected to recover.

Iowa GOP lawmakers ended a two-month stalemate on K-12 funding by approving a 2% increase that adds nearly $162 per student for both public and private schools—funding extra costs for districts with high transportation expenses and small districts sharing staff.

The measure will be sent to the governor after the House votes tomorrow.

Brooklynn Conrad, a 10-year-old golfer from Des Moines, placed fourth in the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club over the weekend.
