Good morning, West Des Moines.

On Saturday, community members joined the Stuff the Truck food drive to support the Urbandale Food Pantry, which opened a new facility in April and served over 2,000 families in its first month.

Local businesses Van Meter Incorporated and Baker Electric helped pack a truck with nonperishable food, personal care items, and financial gifts—donations that were matched up to $3,000 show strong local support.

About 20,000 people will attend the Red Bull Soapbox Race on Saturday in downtown Des Moines where 50 teams will race non-motorized carts on a custom course with turns, jumps and obstacles—pit lane will open at 10 a.m. and the race will begin at noon near the Iowa State Capitol—with local teams like the Eager Beavers Shreddin’ Ash expected to draw strong support.
