- ➤ On Wednesday, a Powerball ticket bought at a Hy-Vee Fast Fresh in Indianola missed a $1.3 billion jackpot by one matching number as Iowans won 68,008 prizes totaling $343,493 — the winner has not come forward. The jackpot has grown to $1.7 billion and will offer a cash option of $770.3 million for Saturday’s drawing. KCCI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Simpson College will expand its full-tuition scholarship program to high-achieving seniors in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids public schools in fall 2026 — seniors must have a 3.5 GPA, submit their FAFSA by July 1, and live on campus as first-time Simpson students, while the program already includes Des Moines and Indianola public schools from fall 2025. - ➤ Central Iowa Water Works reported that all three main water sources dropped to below 10 mg/l by August 25 and stayed below the threshold through early September — this followed the lifting of the lawn watering ban on August 7. KCCI
