If you've followed Des Moines' on-again, off-again pro soccer stadium, it's on again. The City Council voted Monday to move the project forward and set a Dec. 7 public hearing, when the development agreement, purchase and lease could be approved. The city had announced in August it had ended talks with the Krause Group, just weeks before the council made deep budget cuts.
City Manager Scott Sanders says the incentives negotiated with the Krause Group are down 20 million dollars from last year. The council also opened a 30-day competitive process in which another developer could submit a proposal for the site.
- Site: the former DICO superfund site
- District: would surround the new pro soccer stadium
- Still negotiating: Iowa Soccer Development Foundation, on stadium and global plaza
